HHS Class of 1965 - 50-Year Reunion
Do you think Bob Hope had us in mind when he recorded “Thanks for the Memories” all those years ago? Yes, it has been fifty years but, oh my goodness, haven’t they gone by in a flash? It is time for us to get together again to renew friendships and share some laughs and memories of those years at HHS. We have planned a weekend that will lend itself to just that—fond memories, fun, and food! So make your reservations, gas up the car, and get ready to relive the 60s on August 7/8, 2015, in downtown Hampton!
Friday evening, August 7, we will meet at the Hampton Yacht Club, 4707 Victoria Boulevard, at 6:30PM. Heavy hors d’oerves and a cash bar will be offered for your enjoyment and the view of the water is hard to beat! This is a great place to visit with folks you haven’t seen since high school—or at least since the last reunion! Park in the adjoining parking lot, enter through the front door and proceed to the second floor for a fun evening. At 6:30PM, Saturday evening, August 8, we will have a social hour at the Virginia Air and Space Center, followed by dinner at 7:00PM, catered by The Grey Goose. A cash bar will be available as well as a variety of foods offered at stations throughout the downstairs of the Center. Dinner music will be provided while we enjoy each other’s company and reminisce about the last fifty years. During the day on Saturday, we have set up a tour of the high school. It is still the same building but renovations have been done and it is looking pretty spiffy!
Barbara Shelton Marko will be putting together a booklet with contact information for classmates. We will be including an advertising section where you can advertise your business or offer a message to classmates. Fill out the enclosed form and follow the directions to get your information to Barbara by June 15, 2015.
We have arranged to have a block of rooms available at the Hampton Crown Plaza within walking distance to the Air and Space Center. Call the Crown Plaza at 757-727-9700, mention the reunion, and make sure you get the $119 rate. Other hotels available are the Embassy Suites, near the Coliseum, 757-827-8200, Hilton Garden Inn on Power Plant Parkway, 757-310-6323, and Holiday Inn Express on Mercury Boulevard, 757-838-8484.
For additional information about the weekend, Barbara Shelton Marko has worked hard to set up a website and a Facebook group for our class. Go to www.barbaramarko.com/hhs65reunion or https://www.facebook.com/groups/HHSClassof1965FiftyYearReunion for pictures and more details about the reunion weekend.
It is not often we get the opportunity to gather together as a class, to renew old friendships and celebrate “the good old days”. Hopefully we can have a wonderful turn-out for this event and we can make new memories to add to the old. See you in August!
Sincerely,
Jane Dennard Austin
